Job Description

Cancer Center PharmacistThis position will support our Cancer Center, and Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) is strongly preferred. Delivers pharmaceutical care through the provision of patient-centered clinical service, medication information, education, medication preparation and distribution that ensures safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy. Responsible for ensuring safety in the compounding and dispensing of chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other infusion drugs. Provide direct patient care, patient education, and actively participating in clinical decision making. Support policy and program implementation to ensure safety of staff and patients during the preparation, administration, and monitoring of chemotherapy. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.Education: PHARMD-Graduate of an accredited pharmacy schoolCertification & Licensure: RPH-Registered Pharmacist within 120 daysTypical Experience: 3 years recent relevant experienceSkills and Knowledge:Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations and laws and regulations.Comprehensive knowledge of current pharmacological/biopharmaceutical principles, pharmacotherapy, medical terminology, pathologies, disease states, and related information for a medical management plan.Knowledge of acute and chronic disease and its effects on patients and caregivers.Able to use professional judgment and clinical expertise in the daily solving of complex problems and in the provision of clinical information within the scope of practice.Knowledge and understanding of different Pharmacy practice settings, including controlled substance delivery and procedures.Carry out calculations and execute basic math skills needed for common dosage determination.Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment or work processes in a timely, positive and effective manner.General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC.Ability to perform basic inventory management dutiesDemonstrated commitment to teamwork by willingly accepting responsibilities and performing assignments that support the team.Demonstrates knowledge of total quality management through its precepts, skillful workplace applications and continuous organizational improvement.Exhibits a customer/supplier philosophy that emphasizes both internal and external relationships; identifies both customer and supplier needs/expectations and strives to exceed them.Ability to participate in and encourages others to utilize creative and innovative approaches to accomplish tasks.Demonstrated responsibility for ongoing personal development, professional growth and continuing education.Interpersonal skills collaborating with physicians, patients, families, care givers, service providers, and health care team.Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.Requires a basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Title XXII, United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Pharmacopeia (USP).Job Shift: DaysSchedule: Full TimeShift Hours: 8Days of the Week: VariableWeekend Requirements: As NeededBenefits: YesUnions: NoPosition Status: Non-ExemptWeekly Hours: 40Employee Status: RegularEmployees of Sutter Health and its entities may handle hazardous drugs in the course of their work, including patient care, which requires them to manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines.Sutter Health is an equal opportunity employer EOE/M/F/Disability/Veterans.Pay Range is $87.25 to $122.15 / hourThe compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled.
